Dates for 2011 are 1st -4th June - been thinking about doing this for a while now and coupled with bungy's idea of a small road trip we could combine the two and have an epic trip :)

just throwing this out there at the mo and I hope Abi will be along to add her 2p and advice on costs etc :)

I'm up for anything aswell ! Looks fun always fancied it

nice one mate :)

I'd like to do this or something similar. As always would need to confirm later due to work but I like the idea.

well everyone says its the ultimate VW show and so much amazing metal to see and am sure we could combine it with a little jaunt through the mountains just to the South :) or somewhere else interesting

I'm up for it mate but have to juggle work' date=' money and family. If I had my way i'd go to it all. Won't be long until Bungy junior will be co-pilot and sorting the tunes on the stereo.

Go for as long as you can, is my advice... We go for the whole week, including a few days before it all starts properly. Reifnitz is very quiet then but there are lots of little forum/club meetings around, we came across a cracking meeting of Rallye Golfs and stuff at the Pyramidenkogel days before the event.

Some people do go home before it all starts properly, but there's just so much there that you would never know you'd missed out, on the main days the traffic all around is just full of motors....

The dates for 2011 are the 1-4 June... However as i said the show starts about a week/10days before with mini meets... so its totally up to you when you go... we leave the Friday before the show so next year it will be Friday 27th may... and then leave the Saturday 4th about 10pm to start the trip home so we can be back in work for the Monday. Unlike in England they do not have a show on the Sunday....

but we aware The Germans do love to party, and don't really seems to have a noise curfew... but it's not like pissed-up English tourists abroad, it's noisy and all that but it's not aggressive or violent, I've never once felt intimidated about walking around in the evenings amongst crowds of people. It's ace....

We stay in a self-catered guest house in one of the villages around the lake, called Pörtschach am Wörthersee. But theres campsites all around, and B&B's and Hotels too....there's a lake shuttle boat or speed boat taxis to help get around if you can't be doing with driving too

With regards to accommodation check out www.woerthersee.com

The journey takes about 18-20 hours non-stop going via the Tunnel, although we tend to break it up these days... staying in stuttgart or munich and visiting a motor museum... like BMW, Merc, Porsche etc etc... We have pretty much done them all so I can tell you more if you wanna know.... and the same again on the way home....

This year we covered 2700 miles in the week which included a LOT of cruising round the lake!.... Diesel is much cheaper than Petrol... Fill up in Austria, and Belgium.. rather than France or Germany... and like the UK off the Motorways is cheaper

The total cost of the holiday came to just under £600 each.. that was based on 4 people. It included the Diesel Touran Hire Car, Fuel, Crossing, House in Austria, hotels on route, food, Tolls and the Austria Motorway tax...Pretty much most of the Beer and the entry to the show which is 10 euros for the 4 days....

However you could spend much much more...

you have to pay to use the toilets... but they are ALWAYS clean as they have a person outside.

Eating out isn't too bad either... couple of euro for chips... or we paid 8 euro for a really nice home made pizza within Reifnitz.

Beer is cheap in the supermarkets too.. under a euro for 1/2 litre

Not sure what else you wanna know....
