legvw 0
1000 steady miles, not going above 3000rpm, always checking oil/coolant levels. After that change oil and filter and refill with good oil, then give it some beans!
bungy 2
Don't hold the same revs for a period of time but variation and a light foot.
Dazdub 0
1000 steady miles' date=' not going above 3000rpm, always checking oil/coolant levels. After that change oil and filter and refill with good oil, then give it some beans![/quote']That sounds like a nightmare. Must be really frustrating knowing you got a load of power but having to resist the temptation of planting your right foot
Lukey. 381
Ive always used the other more controversial method with my engines, using old fashioned dino oil get it right up to temp and then open it up in hard low gear bursts with heavy engine braking for the first 25 miles, which is all it really takes, due to seeing the difference in the ring seals between granny driving and the above method. Then drop the oil and replace with dino oil again for 1.5k. Then putting in semi or full syn, whatever your preference
spadam 7
^ ive also read about this but think id be to worried id damage it. Read a long thread somewhere about piston rings taking around 30 -40miles to bed in and you should bring engine up to temp and you the whole rev range with heavy engine braking but do not hold the revs. Not sure id have the guts to do this tbh. Saunders82 0
What I did with mine was just like someone said 3000 revs for the first 1000 miles but I moved it to 3500 then 4000 nearer the 1000 mile Mark then changed the oil even then the oil was still super clean. It used no oil or coolant in that period as well
