Timah89 1
just wandering if anyone else has bought these off Ebay?? i have had problem after problem and 3 sets sent to me, go ebayer as he is always willing to help, but he is adamant that in 6 years of selling them io am the only person to complain. They have too much pressure in them basically and practically rip the fixings for them out of the wing. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/VW-GOLF-MK3-BONNET-LIFTERS-GAS-STRUTS-KIT-gti-vr6-etc-/220627497159?cmd=ViewItem&pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item335e6c70c7#ht_1399wt_911

Ben Seabrook 4
yeah I am sure thats the buyer that I bought mine from and had no probs with them mate - cant see where you would be doing anything wrong with the fitting either so yeah if its pulling the fixings out would point to the struts ! dman78 1
i bought mine from them in jan 2010 and they are on my second vr and still going strong
Timah89 1
just the answers i didnt want, lol. i honestly dont get it, i think it is more to the point that the wing bolts dont quite screw tight enough, need more of a permanent fix. They do see too powerful for lifting a bonnet and they aren't adjustable which is a shame! the 2nd set he sent did have less power but one of them exploded when i fitted it! you cant really go wrong with the fitting so is it really just pure bad luck that 2 sets have been bad?!?! May try holding the wing bolts in with some hard as nails glue.
b19drg 0
I bought some at inters a few weeks back and they are mega powerful you can't let the bonnet go , it has ripped the fixings out of the wing ! Going to look at replacing or prehaps welding the bolts in place !
dman78 1
you guys might have a different batch if the same things happened to both of you

jasonoldy69 1
Mine didn't stay shiny for long. Patches of rust started to appear :-(
Timah89 1
right then i took the front wheels off yesterday and then the arch lining and have managed to fit the wing fixings now with nuts on the underside, at least this way the bolt wont rip straight out of the wing. it scares the living sh1t out of me when i open the bonnet and forget to hold the bonnet all the way up. luckily the ebayer dude sent me another kind mail yesterday stating that he is sending out my 3rd free replacement set now. aslong as these have a little less pressure in they will be fine. fingers crossed hey! Timah89 1
swapped them over to the lower bonnet hinge bolt last night, seem fine now. just keeping them covered in DT85 now to stop any rust appearing that everyone keeps mentioning
