vr6 reving! can u tell me what urs revs up to

hi there ppl can u tell me wat urs revs up to mine goes to 5,500 and then jumps and goes past it ut it feel horrible! but when i just rev it is goes past 5,550 to 6,500. but if it does it while driving code comes up going engine exceaded limit?
