Getting put off doing my mk2 conversion

Recommended Posts

I dont know how true this is but im sure some of you guys will put me straight. Ive baught myself a high miler and I believe its a runner. Either way it doesnt matter as im gunna strip it bk and rebuild the whole thing anyways. whats putting me off is Ive been told that in Vr6 motors the waterways become corroded and leak into the oilways in the block and head obviously mixing oil and water. How true it this? and if it is true is there a way of re-sleving the water and oil pipes as I have already purchased and just need to collect.

Hopefully I wont be put off doing my conversion after ive waited to long to get started.

Thanks for your help guys

The only thing I know about is the heads waterways corroding to the reasons stated above I've got 2 heads one 75k whick is as good as my reconned one on my car and one 90k one which is very much corroded!! So basically when you strip the the engine down send the head to a specialist and see how you get on.

Cheers for your help guys, and to let you know ive had some great news, they guy whos got the car has got it running today so seems to be no probs. Duno where the info he came up with did. Im pretty much on track with how things work and rebuild through doin my mk2 gti. I was a lil confused when he said it so thought id ask sum experts. I think he was trying to put me off as he's quite into doing conversions and wants it for himself as i got it dirt cheap.

Also whilst were on, any1 got any ideas on car transportation from manchester to middlesbrough as the cars sorn.......cheers agen
