I need the part number for thw lambda sensor/probe please.

I went to VW but they got all confused and couldnt tell me which 1 I needed out of the 4 that came up on the screen.

The mk3 is overfuelling and backfiring and its costing me a fortune. The probe isnt even int he exhaust so rather than clean it and put if back in, just gunna get a new sensor, cos it looks like its past its time (was like this when I bought the car, but I only noticed the other day when I was cleaning the engine bay).

Could it have casued any damage wiht it not having the probe plugged in?

Thanks

It's hard to say really, it'd chuck readings out miles and with overfueling it could mean that petrol has gone into the CAT and damaged the internals, or can effect the oil coating on the cylinders if it's really overfueling.

Can test 2nd one though by a simple compression test. Can't they find out which one it is from your VIN number, and you say that it isn't connected to the exhaust, maybe disconnect it and take it in the parts department. They should be able to get a number or measurements from it if not just looking at pics on their system.

The got all confused when I mentioned It had a decat pipe.

Onyl thing that makes me say its overfueling, its the exhaust is black from soot, theres a slight smell of petrol from around the exhaust and the exhaust pops ALOT.

Is there only 1 lambda sensor or is there a bank1 and bank2?

If it's been de-catted that'll more than likely be the reason why it won't go through. Mine with de-cat is around 0.5 - 0.6 CO but then my boss in an MOT tester and knows I've got the CAT at home so lets it go, Only with me though.

Mine only has 1 sensor but it's OBD1 and not sure if the OBD2 has 1 or 2 though.

Mine pops loads especially on over-run, think this is pretty standard though to be honest, also mine has a bit of black soot on exhaust tips.

Do not tell him about the Decat, otherwise yes a few to get confused dot com!

£78 is the staff price that you are getting dude, as the normal price is £102+.

But Also EURO do them, Think its in the region of £50. But get the Bosch and tell them to match it up with the VAG numbers, otherwise they will sell you shiiite copy that they do!

Goodluck..!

Mate, at the mo, Im in the same position as you, I need to replace my Sensor to as its Fc***d..

Went to Euro initially yesterday mornin, but they were a bunch of twats and did not know which sensor was for mine, I then had to call up my m8's @ TPS, they then told me the Part numbers, told staff at ECP- "Not in Stock sir"..

So i thought, as everything else is all genuine on me motor, id just get the original part rather than pissin about..

Only £30 xtra.

TBH the original stuff from the dealers are far more better than Euro's..
