Gazbarber1982 3
Which is the best air filter to get for my car. The JR filter on it at the min is in a bad state but there isn't enough room to fit a universal 'twincone' in the space behind the bumper due to the air con bits. Any part numbers or suppliers would be appreciated. Thanks.

Gazbarber1982 3
I've been looking for a couple of weeks now for a filter that fits because a 150mm (6") base diameter filter won't fit between the receiver drier for the aircon and the sub frame but all the smaller filters seem to be rated to around 200bhp. I'm going to stealth at the end of the month for a remap now I've had the chains, guides, tensioners and gaskets done (all with genuine VAG parts - saved a fortune with premium membership at TPS Manchester) but I'm trying to get everything replaced before I go down. I've got all new silicone hoses from throttle body to air filter but just wanted a good filter that won't restrict my car. What kind of power can I expect with just the charger, de cat and milltek non res zorst? From what I've been told it's a zr-2 charger. Thanks again for all you help guys!!
Rikki 2
Around 250-270! I run a escort cossie k&n as its long and qutie thin so it fits between the drier bottle....as said its tight down there!! Also heard that you shouldnt use a sponge filter with a charger.....dont know how true it is just what i heard !

Gazbarber1982 3
I've 'aquired' a pipercross filter, 80mm neck PK005F. It's only rated to 195bhp but it feels well on the car! It could be because the JR filter I had was very clogged but the car idle's better and feels a bit smoother. It has a wire mesh on the inside of the filter and I'll keep my eye on it and report back but upto now it's got my thumbs up. My only concern is when the weather gets bad and there's a lot of water around because it's quite low down. (10mm off the splash tray between the inner arch and splitter)

AEM dryflow filters are worth a look
Gazbarber1982 3
I've left the plastic 'gauze' in the MAF which would stop any large bits entering the engine but I will be checking on it regularly just because of what I've read. I've also read all the info on the pipercross website and they reakon that some of their filters are made for F1 and rally cars which will suck a s**t load harder than my car and are proved to be the 'better' filter than the 'other' competitors. Apparently the problem with them breaking up was the bonding process because the vibrations and engine notes interferred with the bond's structure but now they use a softer and more flexible glue that is affected with most engine notes. I've checked a lot out on filters just because it's just cost me £1100 to have the chains, tensioners n gaskets done. Only problem now is I'm scared to put my foot down just in case it goes again. Gazbarber1982 3
Well, what can I say?! I pulled 273 bhp on the rollers after Vince had a tinkle with my car. Said it was a good performance from that charger. Car feels fantastic!!! Think the remap was a very good investment and I have nothin but good things to say about stealth. Very helpful and informative (even though a tad on the expensive side)
