with mine i bled it till i was damn sure there wasnt any air in, there pretty much couldnt be, then i bled the abs pump following its own instructions, but as that only uses the fronts i then output tested each corner with the bleed nipples open to allow any air still in to escape.

I then flipped the rear calipers upside down to allow any air pockets to surface and did the rears one more time. At this point i still didnt have very good pedal, there was about an inch of free travel at the top of the pedal, but the power was there, the brakes could stop the thing on its roof. After giving the brakes a good workout on some twisties the feel crept right back up to the top of the pedal. Its perfect and good and strong now.

This good brakes but shite pedal and the pedal coming back with a bit of rough exercise of the brakes i have seen as a fairly common phenomenon, prob due to a tiny tiny amount of air somewhere and being given a bit of treatment added to the car being thrown around dislodging this pocket and eventually escaping through the system, other people suggested park the car for a few days with a plank of wood prsseing on the brake pedal giving the same effect of any bubble eventually venting out the master cylinder.

One man was certain it was master cylinder and wouldnt entertain anything else and spat his dummy out, so me and the other man got on with the vagcom stuff, and when the peddle came back we rubbed it right in his face
