Interior removal questions

Anyone no how much weight is saved and if any performance gains are noticable by removing rear seats, carpet, parcel shelf, spare wheel etc.

Im thinking about starting to strip the car and no once i start il just keep going. Just wondered if anyone new how much weight is saved roughly and is it worth it for the performance gains.

Also thinking of removing front heated leather seats and replacing with lightweight bucket seats and harness so interior shall be for sale shortly.

the front seats alone weight a hell of a lot so yeah get rid lol .... go get it weighed and then start stripping i done it as u know and never looked back car is so much lighter and faster

Dude, other than pissing the missis off by doing it, I wouldn't notice any gains lol.

I weigh 129kg.... so that would be stipping me out but leaving the feet and a small portion of the calfs lol.

I'd do it, even if it meant bringing it to factory stock weight with me in it. Go for it.

although I am sure that when Jake stripped his mk2 at Inters and then ran it up the strip it wasnt much/if any faster than with all the interior in it ??

Hence why Karting and drag racing are not my forte. Too friggin heavy. But that's why I like the VR. First car that pulls well regardless of loaded weight.

Ben, I don't think a MK2 VR can really lose any more weight. MK3 has more weight from comfort and safety

Tony just rip the sunroof out and cover it over with pink fur. Weigh less than CF.

Yea they look really good and well priced.waiting for them to do carbon bonnets to. Yea it does pull well jst wana go quicker and handle better and like the noises from stripped out cars lol.

ive been stripping little bits here and there and the box of bits is just about lifter`ble as tony says about the vr seats i couldn`t believe how heavy they where they where heavy`er than the mk4 recaros which look a lot bigger & more substantial

Yea may well start to strip it out just keep getting put off as it will be worth less when i come to sell it.

When Jake stripped out Betty it was in excess of 70kgs and made 1/2 second difference down the strip. The glass is another very large portion of sprung weight aswell. Lighter alloys make a difference to driver feel and car agility.

Yea i want some team dynamic pro 1.2 in black and 16inch when i can find some at a decent price. How does stripping out my car affect price. I no mk3 dont tend to be worth much so not to bothered but would it be worth it for the gains. Ive been looking at plastic windows for the car aswell as demon tweeks sell them.
