euanm1979 0
My cooling fan sounds like its about ready to take off, it makes a high pitched squeeling noise when it kicks in to cool the engine and when i switch the heaters on, any ideas lads and lasses?
VR6Nat 9
Id start with the simple and try spraying it with some WD40... worth a shot... might just be getting a little stuck.
adam_christie 0
Could be the belt that drives the second fan maybe needs replacing? Think back to your MK2 days and squealing alternator belts!
VR6Pete 1,455
how easy are the fans to turn manually - if its a little stiff, its possible your bearings are on the way out - happened to me on my mk2 vr6 with corrado radiator / fans. bearing failed, burnt the motor out... euanm1979 0
nice one folks, will try all of the above and see what works
euanm1979 0
well i've tried wd 40 it didnt work unfortunately, the fans turn easy enough by hand. Well at least i reckon they do, there aint much room to play with in that engine bay so its pretty much impossible to get near them as you all know. I reckon its going to be replacement parts, theres a lad on here selling the whole radiator and fans etc, anyone know if that can be replaced without the engine coming out or taken too bits? T0NYVR6 2
Fan motor definately needs replacing if its making that kind of noise. Dont know what there like to remove as i've never had to do it on mine but I know you can strip the whole front of the car away without doing anything with the engine. Someone in the no will be along shortly i'm sure.
