Ben Seabrook 4
well sounds to me like it could be an immobiliser fault then mate, mine did something similar but it did get progressively worse rather than just die, have a look at the vag-com helper list and see if someone is close enough to you to come and do it for you. Scott 0
Pearsy, that vag405 is a wicked tool mate, got one meself, it is epic-ly good and retail is around £200 in halfrauds, grab one bud. Mine is in the boot and goes everywhere wi me, cleared my maf problem with it and it runs perfect now, does immobs, radio codes, etc etc everything. It will pick up any fault codes as well as reset the ecu etc, remember when engine is off but ignition on and scanning, you will always always get an engine speed sensor fail, its just cos it isnt running, goes away when started. Its fake, unless it remains while cranking over on the key...then it is faulty right enough lol. An engine speed sensor fail will kill the motor stone dead in its tracks btw.If it wont start, you cant test the engine speed sensor except by towing the car in say 2nd gear at about 10 to 15 miles an hour, ignition on, and let the clutch in so the engine is turning by the gearbox and the scanner should indicate no faults, if the engine speed sensor still comes up, thats your prob. Get a mate to work the scanner from the pass seat while moving tho lolotherwise any other fault will come up running or not, the scanner is a piece of piss to use too mate. I got mine from ebay too, just dont use the chinese sellers, very quick shipping it was too.

Pearsy47 1
right i got that vag405 tool checked the car the only errors are 00532 Supply Voltage (B+)00290 ABS Wheel Speed Signal #4 (Left Rear) - Range/Performance. (G46)00287 ABS Wheel Speed Signal #3 (Right Rear) - Range/Performance (G44)01276 ABS Hydraulic Pump - V64which i can t see that would kill the motor so any new ideas anyone ???? gary.scales 0
Had exactly the same the other week on the way to the pod, all absolutely fine, then no power and would not start again. Long story short, fuel pump relay. Its the one on the right hand side at the bottom just above the fuses. I think no 12 and numbered 169 on the relay itself. Changed that and started straight away. Hope this helps
