VR6Pete 1,455 Posted March 3, 2010 Report Share Posted March 3, 2010 Important – Please ReadIt has come to the attention of the moderators that a small number of scammers maybe operating on The VR6 Owners Club website.To ensure you don’t become a victim to a scam, please follow the below guidelines when buying / selling on the forum.• Pay by PAYPAL only or cash upon collection (PayPal offer buyer protection, if you suspect foul-play, (If your item has not arrived, and the seller is no longer communicating with you) Open a PayPal dispute immediately with PayPal. DO NOT close the dispute until you have either 1) received your items in a satisfactory condition, 2) have received a full refund.• Is the seller genuine? – Take into account how long the user has been a member on the site, post counts, general website activity. All this information is available by checking the user’s profile, take more caution if the seller has only just joined the website to sell an item.• If you have advertised in the “Wanted†section – take more caution if a user has PM’ed you saying that they know someone who has item XYZ for sale - ask for further information of where its currently advertised, ensure that any photo’s sent are genuine and not one’s obtained from the internet (scammers tend to use Google / Google images to find product photo’s, or similar photos from eBay / and other forums).• Check the following forum threads to ensure the use is not a known active scammer / or have received bad feedback;Active ScammersBuyer & Seller Feedback SectionIf you have had a good or bad buying or selling experience – Please post within the Buyer and Seller Feedback Section. Actions The VR6 Owners Club are consideringWe are considering the following methods in order to deter scammers from the website;• Restrict the classifieds section to Premium Members Only – This would mean that only paid Premium Members are able to advertise on the forum. • Restrict the classifieds section based upon post count, and general contribution to the website – This would mean that you would not be able to post in the forum unless you have X forum posts, and have been a member for X weeks / months.• Paid Advertisments - This would mean there would be a small cost per advert posted up on The VR6 Owners Club Website• Moderator Approval - This would mean that EVERY advert posted up on the website would have to be approved by a Moderator before being visible to other members.Remember - Even with any of the above steps in place, AVOID sellers who PM you outside of the Classifieds Section, and stick to the other pointers mentioned above.Disclaimer: With regards to buying or selling on this site in no event shall The VR6 Owners Club be liable for any incidental, indirect, consequential or special damages of any kind, or any damages whatsoever, including, without limitation, those resulting from loss of profit, loss of contracts, goodwill, data, information, income, expected savings or business relationships, whether or not advised of the possibility of such damage, arising out of or in connection with the use of buyers or sellers advertising on this site. The VR6 Owners Club would recommend cash on collection ONLY, if you have to make a depisit - make sure this is done by PayPal ONLY, and that you stick to the above guidelines as detailed above.Pete Link to post Share on other sites

thesharkfactor 0 Posted April 16, 2010 Report Share Posted April 16, 2010 ive been scammed by "dubbers" aka "mr hewitt" on the golfgti forum. i put up a wanted thread last night on 3forums looking for quad lamps for mk3 golf,.. this lowlife txt me saying he had what i wanted- i sent him £70 by bank transfer.. it wasnt until today i looked on the forum and saw he had registered that day! then i saw the big scammer thread about him 4pages of it- hes screwed too many folks for alot of money- he'll be going to jail in a year or so when it all catches up with him..i have his account detials, sort code, account number, mastercard number.. he banks with royal bank of scotland. the payment reference he gave me "APS CUST" is for airport parking! (my bank told me that!)i'll be reporting to the authorites in the morning. his bank is aware of his fraudulant activites too.. i hope your reading this dubbers, mr hewitt, toomany, sharon charlise, or whatever you call yourself..you can keep my £70, i'll happily pay that to see your ass in the can.. you better hope your big enough to protect yourself- weasel.
