There we are.

As i've said in the new members section, got a very slight rattle from the chainage area, so going to get that looked at today, and see where to go from there really.

Fancy getting some Borbets for her, but that may depend on what happens engine wise!!

Thanks

Tom

The best bit about it was, i got the train up and guy picked me up from the station, and on the way back to his house, he mentioned his brother had just bough an Audi R8!! So we turned up at his house, and there it was parked up in the drive, and i'm ashamed to say, i slightly forgot about the golf for a few minutes!!

Sat in it, and it is amazing, sounds awesome!! Do you think the V10 would fit in the VR?? :-d

WOW she's clean!! :)

Thanks dude, she really is spotless outside and in, a small crack in one of the rear lenses and thats it!!

Just , as said before, want to make sure everything is ok mechanically, and then it'll be fine!!

Just a few questions ive got:

I've read a few times about VR's warming up, and mine probably takes around 5-10 minutes to warm up to 80 on the gauge first thing, is this right??

Is the engine supposed to give the car a slight shake on idle, i mean the shake that comes from having a huge block, or thats the way i see it anyway?

There are loadsa great meets throughout the year that a lot of us go to and camp out, get drunk have a lot of laughs, its great fun!! :)

As for the shake... it depends how bad it is, lift your bonnet up n have a look at the engine, if its moving around a fair bit it could be one of your engine mounts needs replacing... but might be ok if its not too bad, just keep your eye on it.

No it's not bad at all, just noticeable, but i think it's to do with the sheer size of the thing more than anything.

It's going in the garage i said about on Tuesday anyway, and anything that needs doing will be done (Good old credit card) so she'll be all sorted then!

You wouldn't know where the cheapest place to get black diamond brake products would be would you? I've tried Europerformance, where i got my Primera stuff from, but they seem very expensive now?

I'm looking forward to meeting everyone, and getting to some meets, can't wait!!

ahh well its prob nothing to worry about but im sure the garage will let you know when they see it. :)

and no i dont to be honest, i run Brembo discs and Pagid pads on mine which i got from GSF and with my discount come to about £90... I looked into it a lot before i brought them and they good good reviews on here... :)

Is that £90 for discs and pads??

Thats pretty good isn;t it, crikey!!

I also checked the MOT history on VOSA last night, and the good thing is that everything he told me tallied up with what the MOT history said, and it's had to have a very minimal amount of welding done in the last 6 years, which, in my eyes, is a good thing!!

Yeah, I got Brembo Vented dics and i think the pads are pagid fast road pads... you get 10% off at GSF so yeah, bargain and seem to work well for me... but by all means ask around, i dont know if the upgrade to black diamond is really necessary as the set up i have stops me well enough!! lol.

Got a blowy cat after inspection on Saturday, which proably explains the slightly rich smell from the exhaust, so got a new (2nd hand) one on the way, £30, which i'm pleased with, and also got a ram air filter on the way too!

Some more good news, as i took the car to my VW blokey, and he said it's spotless, underneath has had a small amount of welding around the bungs ( a common place apparently) and thats it, and he said he thinks the chain rattle is because of the state of the oil in the engine, he reckons it hasn't been changed in a year, so i went to VW as well and picked up synta silver for the weekend!!

Pleased as punch!! :-d

Bit of a pain today.

Went out to the car this morning, and there was a puddle of water in the centre console, and a wet roof lining. I presume it's leaking from the sunroof, and so i squeezed the drain nipples in the door jambs and a small amount of water and crap came out, would this be enough to block them up, or could it be more serious, i.e the seal around the sunroof?? I'm hoping it was just the drain tubes, as it was preety thick and black gunk that came out, allbeit just about a lump say a 5p size.

Any help would be appreciated guys.
