CALICO 130
mk1 golfs suffer from the water jacket on the oil cooler rusting through putting oil in the water or vice versa if you are getting pressure build up in the water system then more than likely headgasketcan you get it to a garage for a sniff test
terrorste 0
Anyone think it is worth getting the head gasket done? it looks like a costlly job to do! i think mine is on its way out I keep getting random water leaks loss of power but no water in the oil yet. craggsy 91
Headgasket is not that difficult once you have it all the timing lined up correctly. I watched Tony do mine and it was a lot easier than I thought. I would have a go if it went, not that it will hopefully
terrorste 0
I wish tony would do mine! Did your car feel better afterwards? i'm a bit funny about getting it done as quite a few years ago mine went on my poo corsa after 43k and the car just felt like a bag of nails afterwards. craggsy 91
Car pulled better but that was coz we lowered the compression a bit as well to go with the charger.Only reason they can feel crap after doing a head gasket is that timing isnt lined up correctly, just one tooth out will make a difference
terrorste 0
the place i took it to was a place that does mostly head gaskets, i think it was just because it was a corsa. How much should i be looking to pay to get this done at a garage? or does anyone on here do them? i rather someone who knows what they are doing touch my car.

VR6Pete 1,455
Get Tony to do it for you. Garages will charge a silly price for doing h/g..... tony is going to be doing some work on my corrado engine soon...timing chains / headgasket etc...Pete
terrorste 0
I must admit i'd rather let Tony to do it thank a garage. i had big problems with my corsa when i had it done it went after a year! just need to find out if mine has gone. i cant get a garage to look at my car around here all seem to be too busy!
