vr6stormt 0
Ive noticed the last couple of days my temp gauge reads between 0 - 40 degrees and my oils about 70 i checked the thermostat and it looks like its been modded (middles missing) apart from that it starts and runs sweet .....put it back in or replace? vr6stormt 0
is this going to give me probs for the mot this week ie,emisions or even long term running probs?
bungy 2
For the sake of changing it you're better off getting it right. Cheap part easily replaced.
Rikki 2
Not really an easy change imo. Shouldnt hurt to run with the stat open....just wont get too hot in the winter?
bungy 2
If it's already out it seems a bit silly to put it back in rather than replace.

AJmk2 2
Yea you do want the engine to get up to temperature or it will be like its running on choke the whole time, i changed my stat a few days ago and amount of throttle needed to cruise is noticeably less so should be getting better fuel mileage. Or i may just be imaging things. Here is a low temp thermostat :http://www.awesome-gti.co.uk/product.php?xProd=5589
