Can someone help me identify this part.

right......if you you look at the air intake pipe curving towards the throttle body, you will see a rubber pipe that comes off it and goes somewhere under the top left hand corner of the vr6 plastic panel. The pipe has a black disc (with possbile metallic terminals)to it aswell.

This pipe is broken, and i can hear hissing sounds from it. all the time. What is this part, what purpose does it serve and whats the best way to repair it. Also if this is pipe is broken, can it contribute towards poor idling.

yep, they always break on obd2's (obs1's have just a hose)

tip - get one from ford, from the galaxy v6...will cost about £25 there as opposed to about £70 from vw.

or just bin it all and put a k&n filter on there

vr6pete, yep thats the part im on about, looks like you have a breather filter fitted at the end. My problem is...... the actual black round part is broken, it just hangs off. I tried some sealant but no luck

i believe some had them and some didn't. My Corrado one split, but to be honest i didn't notice any difference from it!
