rear bumper removal and refit

how easy ? 30 mins or 3 hrs !!

as sometime in the new year i'll be on the look out for a rear bumper, i will have to fit a towbar for camping so i'm gonna have to get another sprayed and a hole cut in it and then just swap them over when the trailers not needed, have looked into the removable ones but they don't make one that doesn't require the bumper 'trimming'

cool, how much roughly do they go for ? and to be sprayed ? i know somebody was talking the other day on here about them...

easier than the front... 2 or 3 bolts underneath and open the boot and remove the plastic strip just at the top of the bumper and theres about 3 more under there... I think vw ones are about £150 and pattern ones about £50 (thats a guess though!) should be about £100 to paint

keep your eye on ebay, they come up fairly regularly, or try breakers yards. will be easier to get one already painted in your colour. you'd have to budget £50-75 a bumper for spraying i reckon.

yeah was thinking scrappy...no rush yet so will keep a look out, are all mk3 the same never really studied any other mk3 arses

base models had fully unpainted bumpers.

early vr6's, all gti's (both 8v and 16v) had half painted bumpers (as mine is)

late vr6's, and i think late drivers had fully coded.

...all three bumpers are actually different (weird textures on some) so make sure you get the correct type.

CL & GL models had painted bumpers as well (dont know if it was just late ones though)

yep, just thought that myself...but deffo only late ones, and add late tdi's as well.

so bascially all reasonable late models are fully coded.
