The Monk 50 Posted July 19, 2009 Report Share Posted July 19, 2009 Heres a Q for you all.After lowering my car, I had the misfortune of going over a few of those high foot long bumps, like you find at the entrance of some service stations.The cars front wheels have gone over them and landed harshly on the front foot long of sills, including the jacking points....they are now bent inwards and out and rusted to hell.How do I go about fixing it and is it an MOT failure OR is it worth putting the Engine into another mk3 or whatever? gavinvr6 0 Posted July 19, 2009 Report Share Posted July 19, 2009 if the seals have been crushed in anyway then yes its an mot failure, only know this as i had to have foot long repairs to my front seals after some numpty in a garage crushed the seals by lifting the car off the ground by the seals not the chassis rails. a couple of repair peices are reasonably easy to do and actually quite hard to notice unless under the car. i paid £100 for 12" repair to the fronts on both sides, that was cut/remove/fab/weld and seal. you can do it yourself if you can get a mig welder as its quite simple and will take half a day to a day if you take it nice and carefully. metal can be bought from b&q or hack up an old bonnet to save cash and bend it to shape Link to post Share on other sites
