Chris1 0 Posted July 15, 2009 Report Share Posted July 15, 2009 Hi, i'm in need of some new coilovers, i currently have FK Highsports, they're getting on abit now they've been on the car since shortly after i brought it over 3years ago, they're now bolloxed shall we say, i'm currently in the middle of a complete suspension overhaul, with a new front subframe bearings bushes balljoints etc and while thats being done i want to fit the new suspension so......The FKs have done well and i'm happy with how they make the car look and the handling was OK, nothing amazing so i was wondering what else is out there that competes, i've been looking at all the budget coilover kits out there because i heard great things about Venom & AP, apparenty they're better than the FK's, and also other makes like JOM aren't that bad, the price is the main thing, anything up to £400 is really my budget, i'd consider springs and shocks kits instead if they were low enough too, but obviously if i can get a set for £200 that are equally as good then i'd prefer that!Any ideas or feedback from any coilovers - spring and shock kits out there would be greatly appreciated, Thanks guys Link to post Share on other sites
UKG Grant 1 Posted July 15, 2009 Report Share Posted July 15, 2009 iv had good experience with FK's, a couple of my friends have jamex, wich are abit bouncy, but fine if you keep the helper springs in. gaz are brilliant had a set on my 5gt turbo massivly ajustable camber at the top etc. in my opinion ther all pretty much the same just dpends how adjustable you want them. Cant really comment on anythin else, but i have heard that FKs are not good for their 'lasting power', quite a few ppl have had them fail after a couple of years. Link to post Share on other sites
ben_notts 0 Posted July 24, 2009 Report Share Posted July 24, 2009 im sat looking at a fresh set of weitec's in mi lounge at the mo!!they were £380 delivered from Gwerks - same price as the AP ones at the minute as they are doing a clearout (AP use cheaper bumpstops and bushes) but you have to do it through edition 38 forum.KW , weitec and AP are all the same family KW's being the best and AP's the 'budget' ones to contend with raceland etc. but AP are still good build quality unlike the chineese shite you see re branded on ebay - i saw some pics of them on a Bm forum where the guy had sheared off the bottom bracket of the coil body whilst drifting!!infact im just looking for the 'coilover fitting guide' at the mo, im sure its on here somewhere!!buy cheap buy twice. laurenceh 0 Posted July 24, 2009 Report Share Posted July 24, 2009 i've got this issue at the moment - what to buy???personally due to previous experiences i wouldn't touch FK's with a 10ft bargepole! i found supersports to be surprisingly good and JOM (cheapy ones) very good considering the price - if they last 2 years and you chuck them in a skip its no big loss Link to post Share on other sites
