If I were to compare my engine bay, I'd say that it was like a gold bar that someone has shat on.

Deep down inside lies awesomeness! However, outside crud!

If anyone has got any suggestions of how I can go about restoring my engine bay to former glory or pics of their engine bays, it might provide inspiration for mine.

Thanks

Scott

I use Auto glym machine and engine clean, it works through the grime well... I took out my battery and airbox and cleaned under there too, its a once only job, you dont have to do that every time, but it makes a difference when you can get to as many bits as possible...

My engine clean starts with spraying the engine cleaner all over the really bad bits (my engine bay had never been cleaned when i got it) then let that soak for a few mins, then use a tooth brush to get rid of the worst of it, and rinse off with water (i used a bottle and not a hose). And copious amounts of tissue to help get out the grime you have lifted.

Then i get baby wipes (yes baby wipes!!) and clean all the hoses and plastic bits, its really good... trust me... then to make those shine up nice i use auto glym vunyl and rubber care on a tea towel.

Then i polish up all the paint work i can possibly get to using auto glym super resin polish. Im sure there is better products out there, but i find these do the trick for me and as halfrauds have the old 3 for 2 offer on, it makes sense!!

Also i took off the stupid duvet like thing on the inside of the hood and found it was painted behind it, so i polished that up too!!! :) :)

Hope this helps, everyone has their own little ways, but i like doin it this way and get good results too!! :) :) :)

i dont have the duvet on the under bonnet either, looks 10 times better, my bay is alright but i dont show it off much even if there is a whopping turbo strapped to her lol. Things have been polished but gone dull due to heat and cant bring them up to a nice enough shine, needs polishing or chroming again really, but as has already been said remove what you can and dont go at it with the hose or you might get water where it shouldnt go. if your saying people have painted the engine bay what do you mean exactly? u realy need to put pics on for people to be able to help you out mate.
