help needed sandin wheels

im attemptin to refurb my knackered santa monicas i started with 120 grit and worked my way down to 1200 grit how do i get it shiney and is it possible to get em chromed like binliners r or sprayed/coated?

justin's are not chromed..there pollished......................you can use up to 2000 as a finishing paper....then using an electric buffer with a good metal pollish to get that bling finish

where can i get polish from halfords??

what tom said... if you go to 2000 then polish with autosol by hand followed by a less abrasive metal polish like peek should do the trick

already lookin better imo its nowhere near as shiney as it looks though and this wheel (which is the worst) does have a mark/dent that i dont think i can do anythin about BUT i did manage to remove the big gouge in the face

theres a couple of scratches that need polishing out... I think you're going to need a set of chrome wheel bolts to go with your newly polished wheels... and I know just the place to get them

I got in the bolt bits using small mops on a drill... btw that is the only part of the wheels I did myself, I bought them polished!

If you go through the grades of wet n dry and make sure that you remove every mark left by the previous grade before you move on to the next (it helps if you go in the opposite direction with each grade) then polish them well then they'll be that shiny!

Havent worked out a price for the wheel bolts yet but I'll let you know

im usin normal sandpaper down to 1500 cuz i cant find anythin else then im scrubbin like a nutter with the polish and now my hands hurt lol im goin b&q in the mornin to try to find mop bits and il borrow next doors drill and keep at it

Id use wet n dry rather than sandpaper and make sure you use plenty of clean water (with a bit of washing up liquid in) to prevent it clogging and scratching

yeah... best to use 120, 240, 400, 600, 800, 1200, 1500, 2000... Halfords will have it

arent those the gti mk5 alloys? i was thinking of them, but then the thought of the gti's having them as standard put me off ....they do look sweet though...no doubt!

another trick instead of washing up liquid is rubbing soap onto the paper (the white soap you get in public toilets) and this will work to, porb better than washing up liquid if your looking for a smoother sand than the paper alone can do

if u mean santa monicas yeh theyr off the mk4 golf i really think they r the best wheel for the vr the really suit it soooooo well 8)
