Sophie - Ferry is just over £50 at the moment with Norfolk line

Craig - Good man, my sense of direction is shocking

Ben - If it snows i wont be driving very far, too many bad experiences!!!! but camping in the snow is still fun!!!

Do you guys buy food when you get there or take your own? and is a motorcycle helmet okay?

Not camping in the mountains of Germany in the snow trust me !!! we did it two years ago and I am never doing it again !!

Yeah I think this year will prob buy some food when we get there or bung a few burgers etc in the car when you leave cool either way although the supermarket should be open on the Friday when we get there - but personally will take food and drink with me for the first night :) As for the helmet yeah a bike one should be fine but it is not a requirement to wear one on the Ring

I know its not a requirement but i dont trust my driving!!!!

Haha ive camped in the snow at alot places, the key is to be prepared, when camping i used a full size mattress airbed, stands about 2.5ft tall, an electric blanket and a full sized duvet. TOASTY!!!

Sounds a good plan on the food front, i may pack some disposable BBQ's as well depending on what everyone else is taking

If you don't trust your driving enough to go out and not crash, then stay in the car park. Seriously. We've had enough accidents over the past few years, we don't need another. Drive it like a country lane - there's blind crests with corners hiding behind them and corners that tighten when you think they're opening up. If you try to attack the track, you have a good chance of crashing and that will cost money. Ask those of us with experience of the costs of being attended to...

It was a euphamism!! <- however you spell that.

Im very confident in my driving, ive done various track days around the UK last year and got on really well.

i wont "attacking the Track" but i sure as hell wont be pootling ;)

Im mroe worried about safety TBH as you never really know what could happen,

Agreed. You can't be too careful. I did a cautious lap in August, only to have some pillock take me as close as I've ever been to having a shunt on the 'Ring. Helmets, FTW! One thing that I learned that I had never considered before is to take a late turn-in. Worst case scenario, if you never turn in to the corner, you just run around the outside! With so many corners where the exit is blind on turn-in and that tightens sharply (Bergwerk, for example), it's a useful tip. Also note the white spots that mark the turn-in points on many of the corners.

If you don't want to take your car round or you want a better handling/faster car, then yes. There's loads of options. RSR Nurburg are only a few yards from the entrance and can do you anything from a dead cheap Alfa 75 to a Porsche 911 GT3RS. Rent4ring have a fleet of Suzuki Swifts that handle very well and are very drivable. Underpowered, of course. Rent Racecar are based a few KM down the road and are the people I rented a Golf GTi from. Personally, I'd look at an Alfa 75 for cheap stuff or a Clio Cup/Megane R26.R from RSR for a bit more wonga. The lads at RSR are a good bunch and helped us out big time last Easter.

Good advise about late cornering Andy, not something i would of thought of tbh. i was always taught never put the power down until you spot the exit point and you can judge just how much power you need. normally fast into a bend and coasting round the apex covering the brake jsut incase, never done me wrong yet

If you go fast into a blind, tightening bend, you'll have a proper sphincter-clencher! Just remember that things are not always as they seem at the 'Ring. Other trackdays I've done in the UK are much easier to spot braking points, turn-in points and apices. If I make it, I'm more than happy to share what I know about the track, which isn't much, TBH! Watch some on-board video and do a few laps on the XBox to know whether the next corner is a right or a left, then just drive safely.

That mean your selling me the higline instead of the Dusty mauve one? :P

The purple one was my very first VR :( Very attached to that motor lol ;)

Im actually quite scared now, all the excitement and planning you kinda forget how careful you have to be. I think im going to be a nervous wreck on the track, espeically with all the 300+ bhper's around.

Meh its all okay when your on track, spend the first lap getting used tot he track/conditions and general behaviour of other cars.

So long as you keep an eye on the other cars its all good.

Not sure how the etiquette works over there, do you signal with an indicator to the car behind to show which side you want them to over take you on? or jsut move off the line and hope they realise your letting them through??

It is covered by german road traffic laws. So that means you overtake on the left hand side only, so when something come up behind you and its sfae to do so indicate right so they know you are letting them past.

But if mid corner then carry on and pull over/back off on the straight bits, what few there are. Its quite easy really
