cornishvr6 52
hi there, having just got my first vr6 i was aware from the previous owner of a clutch problem, he personally fitted a new clutch kit (receipts to prove) and a problem occured, when in neutral there is a loud rattling sound, when you start to depress the clutch it goes away until the pedal nearly hits the floor then it feels thru the pedal as if something is catching and pushing the pedal back slightly, any ideas or help much appreciated. The Monk 50
Sounds like an alignment problem. If he put the clutch on...possible it's clipping the engine or the spring plate, he may have done something to the release bearing. Sounds like one of those 2 anyway. cornishvr6 52
thanks for the advice, i had my suspicions that it mite not have been correctly aligned too, do u know if its a big job as i fancy having a go at it myself.
Bobtrude 0
I guess he didnt change the bearing. I would guess thats what you are hearing. To change, og check the clutch is a fair amount of job,but you can do it if your above average handy . I cant see the clutch alignment to be the problem, as thats more important just for easy install. Once the clutch is installed and the pressureplate releases, the clutch will be allingned by the gearboxshaft. If it wasnt you would get a terrible vibration when upping the rpms in gear. stewartderry 0
your problem is the clutch release fork, bent or cracked
cabrio19 0
sounds like when he changed the clutch he didn't get a clutch kit just the plate. the kit comes with a new bearing. either way you need to take the gearbox out.
