cat bypass

Recommended Posts

hello, i have an exhaust problem on my mark 2 vr6, it has a supersprint cat bypass pipe which has broken, it may be possible to weld it but i dont think it would last for long. The supersprint part is expensive, i am looking for options. there is a dutch company on ebay, hottuning, doing a replacement for about 55quid, but i'm not sure it has the bit for screwing in the lambda probe, there is also a milltek item at about 70quid. Anyone got experience of these? Or is there another option. thanks.

there are usually one or 2 de-cat pipes knocking around on here, the hottuning products seem to be ok, obviously u only get what u pay for but for a stop-gap till u can afford or justify paying supersprint prices they are perfectly acceptable. i beleive they do have the lambda socket, if not its pretty easy ti just drill a hole and weld a nut on.

if its a mk2 why have a cat ? not needed for m.o.t. just take it out

Correct for not needing the cat (unless reg as a K reg) but you still need the lambda sensors fitted to a cat-by pass pipe or the engine will run crap.

Often poor running is beacuse the lambda sensors are knackered (& require replacing) so if these are not fitted............
