SW VR6 0
Hello,The idle on my 97 VR6 has become erratic - sometimes when I start her up on a cold engine the revs fly up to 1200 rpm, sometimes higher. Also, the engine revs dip a little too much when I depress the clutch as I come to a halt, but not quite enough to stall it.I've read that cleaning the throttle body is a good starting point to remedy this. Problem is I'm a bit of a muppet under the bonnet and I'm not 100% sure where it is or how best to go about cleaning it.Does anyone have a link to a diy guide or even some photos maybe? ?! ?! Any help appreciated!Cheers

binliner 0
If I was a pedant I'd point out that that's not the throttle body from a 97 VR6 but as it doesnt really make any difference in this case I won't !![ Edited Wed Nov 03 2004, 09:59PM ]

SW VR6 0
Thanks for that. Do I need to take it off/out or can I clean it in situ? If it needs to be removed is it an easy job and do I need any special tools? Sorry about all the stupid questions!Incidentally, how can I get hold of the ETKA software? It would be very useful for a learner like me!
Slim 0
Have you tried cleaning the idle stabilisation valve first? (Presuming VR's have one). I had the same problem on my last car, 3 clips to take the valve off, blasted it with WD40, and it idled fine.
