SankysVR6 1
Are you sure not the mount it self, as im sure the gearbox mount has some sort of fluid in it. Have you smelt it to see what it smells of.
spadam 7
to be honest it didnt smell much like coolant but definetly losing coolant slowly seems to go from max to jst below min in jst over a week or so.
craggsy 91
Could have a slightly leaking main water pump that would evaporate quite quickly coz of heat of engine
spadam 7
ok will look into that am i right in saying the water pump is on the left hand side of the engine as you look into the engine bay where the aux belt is.
craggsy 91
Yep

hamishsmum 0
hiyai am having a similar problem, although i can see where the drip is landing! need to top up once a week and when i turn the heater on i can smell a sweetish smell coming through the vents.have checked oil and no signs of any gunk in there so hopefully not a HG problem.three different garages have looked at it and it's really starting to bug my happiness!have no idea how much is left in car and temp is plumeting.... spadam 7
my temperture has been spot on never or low or high just slap bang in the middle. Just would like to get it sorted before it gets worse etc. Dont think its headgasket as no mayo on filler cap and no oil in water etc.
spadam 7
When engine is running have noticed the water in header tanks seems to bubble like air is blowing in there maybe normal as car is new to me but thought id say anyway. Also i undid the cap after had turned the car off and water bubbled up and over and out of the header tank dont think this is normal.
spadam 7
havent noticed any water in oil (mayo) or oil in water so hoping not headgasket
craggsy 91
The water will bubble up and spill out if you take the cap off straight after turning engine off as its under pressure
spadam 7
ok thats fine then. guna go for a drive in a min a get it warm and see if i can see water leaking anywhere.
spadam 7
jst let car warm up a little and noticed steam/water vapour coming from left side of engine where belt and water pump are so think this is the water pump thn. once engine was warm water rose from between min and max to jst above max is this to do with it being pressurised.
