bazz780 0 Posted October 24, 2004 Report Share Posted October 24, 2004 hi guys, hope all is well........i wanted to know what the symptoms of a faulty ignition switch are and how easy is it to replace??my car (1995 mk3 vr6) intermittently fails to start first time and can sometimes take 5/6 attempts before it finally starts...the engines does not catch the revs.i would appreciate your commens and suggestions.cheers Link to post Share on other sites
apd 0 Posted October 25, 2004 Report Share Posted October 25, 2004 could be ign. switch.check 109 relay for cracks around the soldered joints with the casing[common vw/audi fault].clean crank sensor plug in.connections to starter motor.had similiar probs.the above cured it.also paid 90quid for a new starter[10 year old vr]. apd 0 Posted October 27, 2004 Report Share Posted October 27, 2004 it says 109 on it.the fuel pump says 167 on it?for the sake of 15 quid from the stealer it rules out one possibility.when mine was non starting with similiar probs it would bump every time. Link to post Share on other sites

bazz780 0 Posted October 31, 2004 Author Report Share Posted October 31, 2004 it is 12.00 from euro car parts and 21.00 from main dealer, labour charge was 50 as there is a special screw that needs to be taken off, vw quoted 106.00 for labour - the steering and airbag needs to come off Link to post Share on other sites

andy 0 Posted October 31, 2004 Report Share Posted October 31, 2004 The judder at low revs is probably the hall sender fault, mine showed that fault on vag com except I had a short to ground. Replaced the hall sender and not only did the judder disappear but I had about 20% more power. It pulled so much better. Link to post Share on other sites
