julesz 0
Hey all. A cold morning question. I have a '97 Highline but neither of my heated mirors are working. The rear screen works though. Might it be a fuse or something or new mirrors or new elements....?
dubloke 4
depends if its ever had replacement glass in the mirrors to. if they've been stuck over the top the elements are never as effective! worth checking.
SankysVR6 1
the elements are on the mirrors.so might have had replacment mirrors.check the driver side should have line going down the right hand side for the blind spot.if it hasn't most likley to be a replacement
julesz 0
hmm, just seen someone selling some aluminium S3 mirrors... not sure they'd look right on a golf though. If i got new glass from VW, would that fix the pronlemo?
julesz 0
Just checked. They look like originals - i have the line separating the blind spot bit on drivers side..
bazz780 0
i have the same problem, put the rear de-mister on and the mirror just stayed misty. might be connected wrong in terms of wiring pins
julesz 0
Just wondering. Ive seen some stuff in Halfords, its a little bottle of electrically conductive paint which is used for fixing rear windscreen heating elements. I can imagine it being very ugly on a rear windscreen, but ona mirror it cant be seen. Do you think this will work? How do you get the glass off?
dubloke 4
the glass just prises off the clips holding it to the motor underneath. care needs to be taken though as its possible to shatter the glass. the element seperation from the glass itself is where its difficult as the glue is very persistent, it can be done, but patience and a little time are needed! tandino 1
Think you really need to check its wired up correctly before removing the glass itself. My Drivers side mirror has stopped heating since i had my respray ~ - funny that..... ~ ~Pete.
