cabrioman 6 Posted September 12, 2008 Report Share Posted September 12, 2008 calling all charger and turbo owners ( yes that inc u jim ) i had a small oil catch tank about 0.5 ltr and it dont seam to anything all the oil its meant to `catch` just goes in and stright back out throu the filter and all over my hoses the tank aint fillin up it only has a few drips of oil init .... thus i have removed it and now the pipe has just s filter on it and the oil still drips out the filter ...i have read and been told but few places and mates that u idealy need 1 ltrm of tank for evey ltr of engine ... ie 2.8 u need a 3 ltr catch tank give or take .... is this right ??? if so wot kinda catch tank u boys and girls using ???cheers tony Link to post Share on other sites

Lizard Racing 0 Posted September 12, 2008 Report Share Posted September 12, 2008 No, mine will be different because it has crankcase and camcover outlet.Dont be tempted to pipe the vented oil misted air back into your engine. It can cause pre-ignition if you have really bad blow by and besides its full of shite anyway.What you could try is to fill the bottle with a gauze material, so the oil gets trapped/stopped before it gets to the vent filter etc. Link to post Share on other sites

They are a legal requirement for racing cars to prevent oil spilling on the track, but on a road car you don't need one.Just run a length of hose down to the steering rack. Job's a good un.If your engine is filling up the catch tank anyway, you have more serious issues to worry about! Link to post Share on other sites
