Lizard Racing 0
What head bolts/studs are you using? You can use Permatex copper spray between surfaces. So long as the head and deck are clean and flat nothing will need skimming. Give both faces a light sanding with some 180 grit or similar. Dont forget to put the two dowels back in!!

Lizard Racing 0
LOL at GSF stuff. Mate ARP is what you need torque them upto 85ftlbs with their specially goop. They pay for themselves because you can reuse them. I get my Permatex from ebay £13ish.

Kelster 0
Just a quick hijack of this post, but it is kinda relevant. As my head is coming off soon and I am going FI in the near future. If I fit a LC spacer gasket when the head comes off will there be an unbearable change in performance while I w8 to complete my FI project ?
UnitedMotorsport 55
You will hardly notice any difference.

FishWick 21
Good stuff that permatex. With regard to skimming, the only issue I've seen from NOT skimming an otherwise good looking head is an oil seep from Cyl 1 end of the block. Doesn't happen every time though. The skimmed engines tend to seal better from my experience. On the ARPs, retorque them after 500 miles. I find a couple of nuts tend to come loose, but again, not all the time.
john555 0
when fitting the spacer do i split the head gasket by removing the rivetsthen put the spacer in between the two layers
Lizard Racing 0
Yeah
jims13 6
what about if you dont have the mk4 gasket, but still have a spacer plate can you just stack the gaskets ?? as in i have a o/e gasket and a spacer gasket, i was planning on stackin them like people used to do on rs tubos and such. john555 0
when using the permatex do i just spray it on the gaskets or do i spray the block head and spacer as well if so will i have to block the bores and valves when spraying it on the block
FishWick 21
You just spray both sides of the spacer, and the top and bottom layers of the split MK4 gasket.
