mk3anni 0
vw say 1 litre of oil consumption every 1k miles is within tolerance!!!! the dif between min and max on dipstick is also 1 litre mine uses around half a litre every 2.5-3k (iv done 8k now sometimes steady sometimes quick hehe) i get oil and filter change every 3-3.5k NEVER EVER plant my right foot or rev past 3.5k rpm b4 the water temp needle has moved a bit(not necasarilly to midpoint(90degrees) and rarely take the engine past 6k even when i am makin progress unless im racin som1 which isnt to often btw i hav very little history with the car but feel happy its not been abused exept for the wheels dohI never take mine above 3k until i get oil temp come up, then never above 4k until i get 65degrees, anf then not usually over 6!!!1 litre every thousand miles!!!!! Nerih 0
i find 75 degrees oil temperature means i can take her over 3000 and know the internals are going to be lubricated properly and her cold cycle is completely finished. I'll take her to the rev limiter, thats why they have it there to limit yer revs, of course it doesnt stay there long! Only very very slight amounts of black smoke come out at this revs (indicates slight oil consumption at high rpms...which ii think is normal) vr is a tough little engine if its looked after properly. My oil changes are every 3k or 4 months regardless of car.
