Seem to have lost some Torque :-(

Recommended Posts

At TSR yesterday Absy returned 197bhp and 169lbs/ft torque. The bhp wasn't bad but was hoping for 200+ however the Torque figure is dissapointing. So the BIG question is where has the torque gone ? Previously the torque was 189lbs/ft.

I believe the equation to work out horsepower is (Torque x RPMs) / 5252, therefore a slight increase in Torque would bump the bhp up considerably.

A while back i did a compression test and the figures were slightly down on previous, could this be causing an issue. I always had concerns about the valve guides, perhaps the valves aren't seating properly.

Absy is driving superbly at the moment (touch wood) and i'm really chuffed or obsessed (fine line).

So come on you guys ........ can anyone shed any light on were i could regain my torque especially as this is the most important figure ;-)

Did you have it rolling roaded at the same place both times?

yeah it was, the only other RR was at Stealth when it wass mapped and torque was nearly 190 then with 203bhp

only thing i've done is clean out BMC, fit neuspeed pulleys, bosch plugs and use Vmax

seems to be going brilliantly, always struggling with traction if i boot it

'm really confused and and a little concerned

Could it just be wrong plugs and mine hates Vmax

When was your last service?

its well looked after

Didn't mean to insinuate it wasn't looked after, but it's usually simple things that people overlook that make all the difference, Personally i'd ditch the bosch plugs. Never had nothing but issues with Bosch and Champion plugs over the years with various motors, i'm NGK every time.

BTW I notice you're slightly down on compression, have a cylinder leakage test done, that'll tell you exactly where you're losing out.

All the VR6s I've been in' date=' naturally aspirated and forced fed have loved V Power, so something doesn't sound right! Hope you solve it.
