krakkpot 0
So I'm on the lookout for an VR6. Pref. with low milage and so young as possible....The -92 I looked at had 117000km on the meter and goes for £2000. No fancy, just a stock VR6.Other later models goes for double the £ with the same mileage. Is the ODB2 models worth the extra money? What are the pros and con with ODB1 and ODB2?Thanks!/MikeD

krakkpot 0
Thanks for quick answer!I read it and it doesn't really answer my question. Are there any real advantages of an ODB2 car versus an ODB1.Of course is an younger car better when it comes to wear and use/abuse.I'm planning on renovate the engine and do some bodywork anyway. Suspension, brakes and so on...Should I spend the extra £ for an ODB2, and is it worth it?/MikeD
VR6Pete 1,455
OBD2's aint that much now-a-days to be honest. I was looking in the region of 1.5k + when I was after a mk3 shell.later the better... how much have you got to spend on one?pete
Phat VR6 3
OBD2 comes with about 190-200bhp where as the OBD1 only has 175bhpOBD2 timing chain and guides last alot longer whereas OBD1 need changing ruffly after about 80,000If your going turbo OBD2s are more suited and with C2 software can surport 400bhpODB2 have bigger brakes 288mm instead of 280mmMore advance ECU including more indeapth error readingIf you can get an OBD2 they are better imo!! thegoth 5
I'm sorry' date=' but I don't really understand what you just wrote....[/quote']When we had a club rolling road Dynometer session a while back my OBD1 measured 201hp at the flywheel, more than a lot of the OBD2s. She'd done 165K miles at the time. But I would still say go for an OBD2 if you can, if for nothing else than the better diagnostics and bigger brakes ;-)
