Replacing pullys the seprentine belt goes around

Recommended Posts

I've had to replace my auxillary serpentine belt as my last one shredded when the tensioner pully imploded.

I've looked at all the pullys the belt goes round, and the grooves in two of the pullies are worn down to nothing. i THINK the ones are the crankshaft pully and the power steering pully. I am assuming that I will have to replace the worn out pullys? If so how do I go about removing them? Easy / hard / expensive?

RIght - just in case I'm being an idiot - does anyone think that the pulleys 'appear' smooth as the grooves are filled with melted belt?

Also - should I be able to spin the crankshaft pulley by hand? It doesn't seem to want to spin...

I wouldnt think a rubber belt ever wear a metal pulley like that? it would take some seriously high mileage surely?

Yeah, panic over. I just didn't know that some of the pulleys were smooth! All fixed now though. I;m back on the road. Thanks to everyone for their help.
