andy 0
Just managed to get my home made vag com interface talking to the car but am unsure whether the fault codes it gave are relevant. It said that the cam position sensor (hall) was shorted to ground, also the engine speed sensor code came up. I think someone on here once said that the engine speed code always comes up when the engine is not running, is this correct? Does anyone know if the cam position code would flag up if the engine is stationary too or does this sound like a real fault? Incidentally also got an abs sensor code to have a look at too.[ Edited ]
mightyvr6 0
the engine speed sensor code disappears when it's started. sounds like the cam sensor is knackered or possibly the wiring. This code shouldn't show up with the engine off. vag-com should tell you which abs sensor is out.
andy 0
this is what I was thinking, to be honest I was looking to find something wrong as the car has been down on power for about a month now and hiccups occasionally, will investigate...The abs sensor is lh front, will look at after getting the beast pulling properly again :-) she still stops fine... cheers

andy 0
hi, need some more help! the codes I have got from the Ross Tech software don't bear any resemblance to the codes in the Bentley manual, for instance I'm getting code 00515 which Ross Tech kindly decodes to mean Cam Position Sensor, problem is that there is a second code 00513 which isn't decoded as I'm only using shareware, I'm quite happy to decode them myself but the codes don't correspond to anything in the bentley book, any ideas how I decode them?
