Golf VR6 0
I'm looking to get the standard suspension swapped over to FK Highsports coilovers this weekend, apart from the front top mounts, what else should i replace? My car knowledge aint so hot but i guess the black rubber thingies shown here in the middle are bump stops? Do i need to prepare the coilovers with the spray the night before fitting to give a protective coating? Anything else i need to do/know?
craggsy 91
change the bearing as well only a couple of quid if i remember when i swapped mine over
Golf VR6 0
Can you specify the exact part name, are you talking about the hub bearings? I need 4 of these?
budgie 0
dude replace all the top struts front and rear buy in kit form from gsf or europarts and you get the bearings. even if you think your strut bush mounts(rubber things) are ok it would be best to renew as the fk coily kit has uprated shocks and will punish part worn or old monts, this may cost a bit more but the ride quality will be much better.hope this helps you
Golf VR6 0
I take it these are the correct parts? Strut top mounts and strut bearings:
xyber 1
Thats the ones, Dont put anything back on you take off basically, replacing the lot isnt much and it saves doing it again when the possibly fail the next MOTps the day b4 u start taking it all apart, drown the top mount nuts in WD40, they can be a bitch if they are corroded and you can easily round off the hex slot in the top

Golf VR6 0
I'm in the fortunate position to have a good friend that works for Porsche, so i get the full valet treatment for free at their dealership. Was told it costs £160?? Not sure whether to believe that or not, but i'm certainly not complaining, the car really does look awesome after, i couldn't believe how much of a difference it made. xyber 1
that looks awesome how much was the valet??i always do my own car but it just never looks that goodwash, chamois, flat polish to get rid of swirls, paint sealant, synthetic wax (i use megs or autoglym egp) then a carnuba wax (like p21s but im going to try dodo juice this weekend) It will then look like that, but the next day once everything has cured it will look even better, you could even do another layer of carnubamake sure you buff off with the highest quality microfibre cloths you can get your hands on, when done alway buff off one last time, it makes a noticable differenceif porsche charge £160 for a valet that aint bad as its a long mornings work, how much is their hourly rate before materials
amazak 3
The car looks stunning! What ride height do you the coilovers set to?
Golf VR6 0
Not sure exactly how low but its lowered something like 35mm at the back, 40mm at the front. Ideally i want to go lower, upto 60mm but already i'm having problems with the front splitter scraping all over the place.
