HI all, having never actually driven a VR6 and in the middle of doing the conversion to VR6, any one shed some light on how much better the torque will be on a standard VR6, my 16v runs at 170bhp and the top and mid end is really good cus can rev the ... off it, but I have noticed that the VR6 clocks revs are getting red mid 6000rpm, i know may be silly qiestion but i need to know if i will be happy once done the conversion, cus the 16valver ain't to bad as it goes. The vr lump is a 1998 2.8 ODB2 VR lump.

Did you go for a ride in a VR6 before doing such a big conversion? Brave man!

Yeah is a big risk but, I always liked them and I have seen quite a few go for it and the sound alone is appealing, so I pritty sure the performance will be quite good. Anyone live near me who is up for a race just to see the difference.Non modifed one.

Bhp in a stock obd2 vr is normally around the 185-190 mark with similar torque too. You've done very well getting your 16v to gain an extra 20bhp. A stock obd2 vr isn't the most powerful car - but it is full of character, the V6 howl! and you will notice the difference if going up hills in dual carriage ways...just driving in top gear you will see all cars stuggle to keep constant speed up a gradual hill ...not the vr.. thats due to the big torque of the 2.8lump. I can keep up with a guy's audi S3 at work and its faster than the latest golf gti. It may not be "much" faster than your old 16v but a 2.8 six cylinder car is a totally different drive..whether fast or slow it's always a good cruise! Not sure what your 16v is like but when you do put your foot down in a VR you will reach 100 before you realise it! 0-100 time for a VR is the same as an escort cosworth.
