acf8181 0
ok...its not right when i drove round the estate with no bonnet i was only at low rpms and low throttle...it felt fine. now i've got the bonnet back on and took it for a proper spin alls not well. theres no power...feels a bit like its not on all cylinders. the clutch makes a weird noise that goes away when i press the pedal. ideas please? i haven't checked for sprks yet as i was fed up and needed something to eat...will crack on with it tomoz morning...give me things to check
tommy 0
sorry to hear that mate the clutch noise could be your thrust bearing.....................as for a lack of power...if you've got a spark on all cylinders then i'd do a compression test...and take it from there really![ Edited Fri Jul 30 2004, 09:42PM ]
Guest Olly_K
as tommy says really, although going back to the clutch, can you select gears ok ? if not could be the release bearing
acf8181 0
i'm not so worried about the clutch for the moment.car feels like it wants to go, but is held back...timing chain a tooth out perhaps?
tommy 0
timing is possible..........did you set the car up your self or do you have a timing light so on.......i'm only speaking from my experience with 8 & 16v golf's so the vr may be a bit different. when ive had to set my 8v after a new cam belt, you can feel the difference as you advance the timing while on a road test!
