just phoned awsome GTI and spoke to Andy with regards to a service for my VR

includes all the usal pants for a service;

fuel filter + pollen filter replacment is £30 on top

magnecor leeds he's assured me that they are good and had not problems with them, 8.5mm core. they are priced at 76quid + VAT.

so the service is 155 + 30 for the filters and 76quid + vat for the leads.

A fault reader is also used to see if any errors have popped up on the ecu etc...

Should i go with this or pay for genuine VAG leads?

let me know your views

I pay £135 at my local VAG specialist but Id expect Awesome to be a bit more... and its still cheaper than VW...what filters are they charging £30 for?

Also if you wanted VAG leads you could always buy them and get them to fit them when they do the service.

2 things to remember with the leads.

1) magnecor are thicker so the little notches that hold the VW leads in the channels have to be removed (so i am told). This means you could not revert to VW leads.

2) You can buy VW leads seperately and not as a whole set every time.

Just my thoughts.

The original red Beru VW leads are indeed of the highest quality but I don't think they're made any more. Last time I enquired at the dealer they got some Quantum ones out which looked inferior, so I got some Magnecor KV85s instead, which will be going on when I get the Schrick as you lose the cable guides, so the 8.5mm thickness won't cause any issues.
