VR6 Owners Input Required - Service Information

I'm trying to collate some information together regarding the maintenance of VR6's. So I'm interested to know the following from fellow VR6 Owners!

* How often do you service your VR6 (every X Miles / yearly intervals etc..)

* What items are normally serviced / replaced.

* Have you ever had any additional work (tuning, maintenance) following the advise of a garage after a service.

* What oil do you use when your VR is serviced?

* Do you take your VR to a Local / Dealership or Specialist Garages for your service?

* Average Price per Service.

If anyone can think of anything usefull to add, please include it in your reply.

1. Service once yearly - I don't do too many miles a year

2. Always replace oil/plugs/coolant every service - garage cleans my BMC panel filter

3. Have had after market ignition leads/engine mounts replaced after recomendations from garage.

4. Leave it up to the garage. I have some 10w40 (I think) Castrol Magnatec for top-ups at home.

5. Take to specialist - able to build a better raport with them and they appreciate the effort gone into your VR

6. £130 cash for a major service everytime (Normally £150).

It's probably the cheapest I've paid for a service on the cars that I've owned.. and I'm happy as I get a good service and I know this doesn't usually happen, but trust the garage owner. He hasn't got it wrong yet *touch wood*.

* Every 9k as per the mfrs advice

* I ask them to do everything - air filter every 9k is overkill but it's pennies to replace

Every 5k which is once a year... (if its being worked hard and the oil starts to change colour then do it then also.

Oil/filters/plugs (every 2nd)/maf clean as needed

Magnatec more due to low usage & Mods so want that initial start up protection

I have a m8 who is VW & motorsport trained and I use the usual suspects recommended on here for those other jobs if he is not available.
