xyber 1
About 1.5 month ago i topped up my vr6 with fully synthetic oil(possibly standard oil b4), up until that point it was sweet as a nut, tonight when i checked it over there was mayo in the filler cap but no other problems or symptoms at all? Im really hoping its nothing and not the head gasket etcany ideas or anyone had this before?
SankysVR6 1
You might just need to give it a good run to get the temps up then check. The VR can run quite wet at times i've been told.

xyber 1
Yeah i only do 5 miles a day, the digital temp gauge doesnt even register its such a short commute. Just taken it along the M5 to get the engine up to temp and everything seems find, no mayo or other symptoms, getting tested on saturday just in case buts as in only doing short runs in cold weather and i have a BMC CDA and its only done 50k i think its just condensation (touching wood!!!!) CHEERS FOR THE HELP THOUGH

matth76 1
I've had slight "mayo" before but it was only condensation. Quite common. However if you get other symptoms and the mayo then start to worry. One of the main symptoms of possible head gasket failure is the mayo and mysterious coolant loss. If you get coolant loss but can't see any leaks anywhere that is a bad sign. By the way you should only use "semi"-synthetic oil (preferably Quantum Synta Silver). Fully synthetic is too thin - unless you have a very heavily modified VR - i.e with a turbo or charger.

Seademon 0
Dont fill it with fully synth - it gets too this for the engine when its hot
