VR6Pete 1,455
you need to wind in the pistols, apart from that, it's a peice of cake
dub_weiser 0
Sorry for sounding daft, but seeing as mine need changing what is ' wind in the pistols'???
acf8181 0
the rear caliper pistons have to be wound back into the caliper (pushing and turning at the same time) to create room for the new pads (which are obviously bigger.i tried pushing and turning with a pair of plyers for hours and hardly moved them...then went and bought the special tool from halfords for £15 and did in 30 secs....so i'd strongly advise getting the tool.apart from that its the same as the fronts (have you done fronts before?) VR6Rich 3
Does that mean that you dont have to wind in the pistons on the front calipers?
acf8181 0
the fonts just need to be pushed back in, which is quite easy to do (small vice, crow bar, etc).once you have the wind back tool i imagine you can use it on the fronts as well to make it even easier.
antera309 3
This is the tool you need for winding back the rear pistons: http://www.justoffbase-tools.co.uk/vehicle_service_tools/VS024.htmlI bought mine from here, mail order. Saves you going to Halfords and getting a load of "look, mate, I get paid £5 an hour and really can't be bothered to help you. We have probably got this tool in stock, but I'll tell you that we haven't just to get rid of you, so that I can go to lunch early."[ Edited Tue Jul 20 2004, 02:08AM ]
