simey 0
Last year the fuel depot at Hemel Hempstead went up in smoke, the fuel from this was sold to Tesco & Morrisons. No problems with the fuel but the tankers used to transport the fuel also transported the aviation fuel, these tankers weren't cleaned therefore fuels mixed which over months caused the car lamba probes headache. Not everyone has realised that catalytic convertors will be damaged too.I've heard this threw a reliable source (Esso mobil) if you drive a diesel car you won't have a problem. Jk* 0
Oh sh*t, ive got my MOT mid month. Apparently you will be able to claim back for the dirty fuel, and if any damage is done to your car claim back for that...eventually. Just seen it on the news this morning. matth76 1
What's the situation with Tesco fuel? I must have missed a day's news when they talked about it (but as usual they only mention it on one day and then you never hear about it again!). Last I heard Tesco were denying it all then I head a very brief mention on the radio recently that Tesco were offereing compensation... what exactly happened? And was their super unleaded fuel affected? I had no problems filling up on their 99 stuff (as I normally do) a day before the news story first came out. Could be that only the 95 ron stuff was affected. Anyone know if it is safe to use again. To be safe, last week I used Shell's (far more expensive) vpower.
thegoth 5
Tesco's first statement was that all their fuel met which ever standard and initial tests verified that. Unfortunatly the standard doesn't include mention of silicon(e) so neither did their tests. They have now accepted liability as high levels of silicon(e) were found in four tanks at their suppliers depot. The 99RON rocket fuel was not affected as it was in other tanks. In the long term, the standard is going to be changed to include a mamimum allowable level of silicon(e). SiGainey 1
My local tesco had a big sign outside it today saying that it wasn't affected by the problems. Nice touch
simey 0
Traces of silicone have been found & the foam used to put out the fires at Hemel Hempstead has silicone in it.The oil industry know's exactly what the problem is & they'll always look to blame someone else.
