Paul1982 0
Just arrived home to find my alloys are waiting for me.Excited as i am i didnt care its raining i was out there trying to fit them.18 ASA AR1's - they looked the part but guess what, the buggers didnt fit, the centre point was up tight to my brake pad :-(Dont really understand it as MOT's highline has the same ones but in 17's:http://www.vr6oc.com/e107_plugins/forum/forum_viewtopic.php?160032So u would think 18's would be bigger over the caliper - oh well i'm always wrong lolNow have to get south west tyres to come pick them back up and i have to looks for another set.Any ideas - as i have the money waiting????? c4mbl 1
I also have those alloys in 17" and they fitted no problems!Do you have the standard brake calipers or uprated ones? You could keep the wheels and buy a 5mm spacer for them if you really like the wheels!! Paul1982 0
But wouldnt the 5mm Spacer push the 18's out even more which will make them rub??My Calipers are standard as far as i can see - this is why i am shocked :-(
dstyrrell 0
what offset are the wheels that you are trying to fit???
craggsy 91
The ofset will dictate whether you can use a spacer, plus of course if arches are rolled
Paul1982 0
Well lads - I took them back and stuck with a set of 17's in the end. They are SSW Mesh split rims - They have only been out a month and they look like the BBS Anniversary alloys.Well i am happy in the end anyway :-)
c4mbl 1
good show, i was gonna go for them too, haha. Get some pics up mate!!

Mot 0
strange...SW should know to send you the right offset too, they seemed to know theyre stuff when i spoke to them!ill try an get a pic up of my clearance - there's about 3mm between the spokes and the caliper, so rules 6 pots out!im gonna get a TT 312mm setup an see if it goes behind or not (hope it does, i'll be charging it soon and want some decent stopping power)
Mot 0
oh yeah, for us folks with the AR1's were you aware that they are BBS licensed (i've a mate that manages motorsport wheels in walsall, biggest importer of bbs wheels an he told me, was shocked!)
Paul1982 0
Well there was a guy who had a TT 225 Sport and he had the AR1's put on his car. So yes if your wheels r on there now then the TT ones will be fine.SW Tyres asked me if it was ok for them to grind my pads down so that they fit. Lol what kind of dumass comment was that???? binliner 0
SW Tyres asked me if it was ok for them to grind my pads down so that they fit. Lol what kind of dumass comment was that????No dumber than buying wheels without checking the offset Seriously theres nothing wrong with grinding a couple of mm off the calipers to gain clearance... depends how much needed to come off
Paul1982 0
Lol - I was told they would fit, been as they r doing it everyday i'm sure they no better.Plus i'd never play with what is the most important part of the car THE BRAKES as if it weakens the pad in anyway it couls cos some serious problems.
