Pervert 0
Hi all,Been a while since I was last on the forums or even in touch, took some leave and went back to SA for a sunny Xmas.....taking time to get used to the weather here again, especially today with this snow.Anyway, more to the point....I need to know how I can find out what diameter my current brake disc setup is from the year of my VR6. As I am purchasing some Brembo grooved discs as we speak and all I know is the car is a late '95 model. However, as we all know in 4/95 they changed the VR6 and this came with the 288mm discs not the 280mm like its predecessor. Is there anyway, without me physically taking the wheel off and measuring, I can find out which is my model....? It was registered on the 17/10/95 but that doesn't necessarily mean it was built after that April so could have been the earlier version. The gentlemen at Motorsport World asked for the chassis no, which he reckoned could help him out but this was not the case.....can any of you help in finding out which version VR6 I have. Also, would you say the Brembo disc with Ferodo pads is a good option, bearing in my I'll be changing the rear bearings and fitting new (standard) discs to the rear while also fitting some stainless steel braided line hoses (compliments of Goodridge). Any suggestions or advice most welcome, thanks.Ciao,PERVERT (h)
kalv 0
I can only comment on the pads in the past - which have been great - I had them on my Subaru with drilled/grooved discs (standard size) and they were amazing. With regards to the goodridge hoses, I had to use an extra washer for it to fit tight with my porsche calipers but on standard they might be ok - something to watch out for. DundeeDub 0
Have a look at the port next to your ash tray behind the cover.......if it like a scart socket shape then its OBD2mine is ob1 and has this port so can't be used to tell, throttle body or manifold only to tell or another way would be to measure the current disks or you should be able to tell by the pads as they are different also
Big J 283
i may be wrong here, but i think the 288's had anti rattle spring clips on the wheel side of the caliper whereas the 280's didnt.
