fitting air con

Recommended Posts

you can fit it but it is a BIG job ..

the bulkhead is different between the back of the dash and the engine bay somehow.. i'm trying to find out exactly how as i am in the same boat as you!!......

you would also need to take the dash out as the heater box underneath is different too

It's not that much of a pain, but you need to have a good understanding of wiring! I'm fitting it, but have come to a stop as the breakers providing me with the parts are lacking some of the pipes, so I'm trying to source them elsewhere. I have the airbox fitted behind the dash, the pump is on the engine and I have 2 pipes in - so I just need a rad (which I've decided to get brand new) and the other pipes. Then it's on to the wiring, which I'm not worried about as the other half builds wiring looms!

I have photo's of all the stages so far, but i probably won't get round to finishing until the spring now, as well there's no point!

The only modification to the bulk head is cutting an rectangular hole for the a/c pipes from the aitrbox to come through.

I'll be making a full guide about this.

Thought I'd add a few pics.

Beam had to come out to fit the A/C box, quite a size difference!

A/C pump fitted, I'm going to replace the oil cooler soon so the front of the car will be apart a bit, so I'll snap a couple of pics of the pump and lines fitted in place.

I haven't snapped a pic of the bulkhead modification yet, I'll do that this week.
