Jk* 0
Yesterday i got into the VR and drove down the road (as you so when you get in a car) when going to brake the brake pedal was quite stiff and vibrated quite a bit when braking. I could also hear a noise coming from the front like a rubbing/grinding noise. Then this evening without braking i heard the same noise coming from the front of the car, when i started to brake the pedal was stiff then suddenly softened up..Any ideas what could be the problem, or a problem that will soon be? Thanks in advance. Jk.
kalv 0
stuck caliper maybe... grinding noise might be worn pads on disc...?
craggsy 91
Might be ABS related
Bigjobbo 0
Sounds like really fcuked brake pads to me. Mainly because the noise was there without braking aswell. Discs and pads i would think. If it was abs related, i think the fault light would come on.Get a torch through the wheel and look at the disc, it will show signs of pads grinding.Do a servo test aswell, just to be sure. Put your foot on the brake then start the engine, the pedal should sink.hope this helps.

vr6madmike 0
Dodgy abs sensor making the car think that a wheel has locked up thus bringing the abs on by mistake?
craggsy 91
Yep....solved it by replacing it before it shown a fault, think it was intermittent on VAgCom
