mike 6
v-tec is a funny thing' date='if its driven to the limit v-tec can be awesome but if not its complete turd(in my opinion) no low down torque at all but plenty of top end grunt if you keep the revs up! I had a play with an integra type r a few weeks back,i was pulling on him a little but when v-tec come in their was nothing in it at all.The thing i thought was funny was the fact i had a whole 1000cc's more than him & he could still scare the sh*t out of my vr :-p [/quote']saying that an integra typre is is an actual 'sports' car, where as a golf vr6 waa deisgned as a hatchback luxary cruiser to compete against bmw's for class not speed ect.was reading on ed38 about some guys sticking 1.6 v-tec engines in mk1 golfs these days! rodney 17
I have a Vtec and they are belting engines & Cars and how they do like to rev.....It is as you all say a very different experience and they do give you more ommpf out of the same size engine! SO these little chaps in their light weight 2litres-ish are keeping up with you and yours which is bigger.Neither is better just different. I like 'em and will always recommend the cars to others as they really don't break often!Down side they really encourage you to thrash them, which is why they'll have a go at anything. Just to hear it scream....

blackmagicvr 7
on the top gear lap board didnt the type r get a quicker time than the 200 bhp turbo gti?
6cylinder 0
The way i look at it i would rather have a vr6 than a honda with 197,250,300 bhp it doesnt matter if the honda has all the bells and whistles they look naff.I can understand the appeal for some people as it all comes down to personnal taste.I for one certainly know my 4 motion out performs a type r with 197 bhp. Karr-Man 0
ive never driven a v-tec but i had mk2 valver and even that was hard work to keep in the power band, id much rather have a nice v6 that will just pull from anywhere....also theres the sound, v-tecs sounds like an angry bee, whereas vr6s, well, if u r on this site then u probably know:D
