apd 0
i had a standard obd1 that made 181bhp/180 torque with 130k on it.a cheap mod to put more air in the engine would be to get a large cone filter and plumb some cold air feed piping to it.done this with the sc vr and it feels more livelier! binliner 0
standard figures are 174bhp for both... when you say 'chip' do you mean off the shelf chip or have you had it mapped since doing the mods?
gav_113 0
just of the shelf chip...i thought obd2 were more bhp std??
matth76 1
The OBD2 does have more power as standard than the OBD1... Stealth say at all the cars they rolling road the OBD2 has (as you correctly said) on average approx 185bhp standard (about 10bhp more). 174 was the quoted figure for the first of the line. You would have been far better of having the Stealth remap (same cost as a superchip) which will get the most out of your specific mods to suit your car. With your throttle body mod does it include an enlarged butterfly? I have heard this is the best mod to do on an OBD1 tb (which the corrado one is). Unfortunately the OBD2 also has a slighty more efficient inlet manifold which would also account for more stock power on an OBD2. However with an enlarged butterfly (which there is a guy on here or the corrado-forum.net forum who is a specialist and does this mod - someone on here will tell you who he is...forgot his name) which should cost around £100 or less, plus Stealth's remap, you will have at least 190bhp mate. The enlarged butterfly can only be done on OBD1 tb's.Good OBD2's even with Shricks and cams find it hard to reach 200bhp sometimes - 190-200bhp is average for a lightly modded OBD2, so you're not far off at all. Every car's different. As long as it drives smoothly and pulls like a train on the road is all that matters.
GVK 1
When I had mine tested at Stealth recently, Vince was saying some of the VRs can give wildly different results, even with the same mods.My mk2 VR is a 160k 2.8 OBD II lump out of a Passat, DR 268s, Raceland mani and Carbonio and made 209bhp and 188 lb/ft , not too bad considering vag-com logged faults with maf and lambda probe.
