djbigpete 0
Apologies if this issue has already been raised (Im guessing it has) but i am considering getting some new wheels for my 1996 vr and im not really up for doing any arch work so was wondering whether these wheels will fit. There are two sets im considering which are: ET52.3 7Jx16 with 205/55/16 tyres (front) and ET52.3 8Jx16 with 225/50/16 tyres (rear)ORET52.3 6Jx16 (front) and ET52.3 8Jx16 (rear) (or possibly ET52)Can anyone tell me if these will fit my car with or without adapters/archwork or if im dreaming!!Also is there any advantage/disadvantage to having wide wheels on the rear and narrow wheels on the front of a vr??Cheers, Pete
craggsy 91
Yes to both.....with that ET i'm assuming porsche rims which will need adaptors to run on a mk3. Also change tyres to 195/45 16s to give as near to standard rolling radius
craggsy 91
Oh and no arch work needed depending how low you go.I have that set up on mine at the minute with rolled arches and get no rubbing at all. Well 7 x 16 front and 8 x 16 rear. Ideally you would have wider wheels on front as its a FWD car but would look strange, thats why I have 7s and 8s. They don't look to different. Used to run 9 x 16 all round but got fed up with it even tho it does look proper phat
djbigpete 0
Thanks for that. Also, what is the width of the standard BBS wheels fitted to the later VR6's and would 6inch wide wheels on the front be too skinny?
rosserooni 0
Hi, the standard BBS wheels fitted to later VR6's are 6.5J x 15s with offset ET43.
purple highline monster 0
6" wide rim on the front would be dangerous imo, you want at least a 195 or 205 width tyre on there
djbigpete 0
Yeah, thats what i was thinking. I'm after Design 90's ideally but they mostly seem to come in 6inch fronts. I think i might hold out to try and get 7's and 8's just to make sure they're wide enough.
craggsy 91
Buy 2 sets to get the sizes you want then sell other set on.....worth a thought if you have the money tho
